Electrician Werribee: the work we do here

Across the City of Wyndham, our job records since March 2026 lean towards switchboards and fault finding. Our Werribee jobs have included switchboard work, safety switches, fault finding, surge protection, an after-hours call-out and an EV charger.

Switchboard upgrades

An older board with rewireable fuses or too few safety switches is replaced or upgraded, with a combined circuit breaker and safety switch on each circuit. A safety switch (RCD) cuts the power in a fraction of a second when it detects electricity leaking in a way that could harm someone. We often add surge protection and safety switch (RCD) installation while the board is open. See switchboard upgrades.

Fault finding

When a circuit keeps tripping or part of the house has lost power, we test the circuits with instruments to find the power point, cable or appliance at fault, then repair it. See fault finding and repairs.

Werribee homes, from the 1960s to the newest estates

Werribee is in the City of Wyndham, about halfway between Melbourne and Geelong on the Princes Highway. Its rapid growth began in the 1960s, and since the 1990s new estates have been built on greenfield land. The 2021 Census counted 50,027 residents and 19,890 private dwellings in Werribee, 85.0 per cent of them separate houses.

A house from the early growth years can still have an older switchboard, rewireable fuses or few safety switches, and Energy Safe Victoria advises a wiring check for any house over 30 years old. Newer houses have modern boards but often too few power points, no power behind the TV and no spare circuit for an EV charger.

TV wall mounting in Werribee

Because we are electricians, the bracket, the power and the cables are one job:

  • The bracket is fixed into the studs behind plasterboard, or anchored into brick, never into the plaster alone.
  • A recessed power point goes behind the screen, so the TV sits close to the wall and no lead hangs down.
  • HDMI and data leads run inside a plasterboard wall through cable entry plates.

You get a Certificate of Electrical Safety for the recessed power point. More on TV wall mounting and installation.

EV charger installation for Werribee homes

An EV wall charger pulls a heavy load for hours, so at a Werribee garage we first check the switchboard, the supply and the cable run to where the car parks.

  • We can install the Tesla Wall Connector (Gen 3) as well as other home wall chargers.
  • We put the charger on its own circuit with its own circuit breaker and safety switch, plus an isolating switch beside it, weatherproof outdoors.
  • A full board or an old fuse board usually needs work first.
  • EV chargers appear on Powercor's list of usual reasons a home's supply gets upgraded. A registered electrical contractor lodges that upgrade request with Powercor, so we lodge it for you.

See EV charger installation.

Smoke alarms, ovens, cooktops and fans

Smoke alarms. For a house built after 1 August 1997, the law asks for 240 V mains-powered smoke alarms with a backup battery in each one. Swap out every alarm, whatever its type, once it reaches 10 years old. A third of Werribee homes are rented (33.3 per cent), and owners and property managers can book a smoke alarm check with us.

Oven and cooktop installation. We connect a new wall oven or cooktop and check the circuit can carry it. Every cooktop needs an isolating switch that is visible and easy to reach, within 2 metres and not mounted on the appliance. See oven and cooktop installation. Rangehood installation is often part of the same kitchen job.

Fans. We do bathroom exhaust fan replacement and new exhaust fans (see exhaust fans), and ceiling fan installation, including swapping an old light for a fan (see ceiling fans).

Not sure what you need? Tell us what is happening and we will talk it through.

Air conditioning installation in Werribee

We install and replace reverse-cycle air conditioning, one system that heats in winter and cools in summer:

  • Wall-mounted split system for one room or an open-plan living area.
  • Multi-head split system: several indoor units from one outdoor unit, for two or more rooms.
  • Ducted reverse-cycle for the whole home, with zones so you run only the rooms you use.

One licensed team does the whole install: the units, the refrigerant pipework, a dedicated circuit at the switchboard and a weatherproof isolator outside. If the board has no room for the circuit, we tell you before any work starts. You receive a Certificate of Electrical Safety and a plumbing Certificate of Compliance. See air conditioning installation.

Power faults and 24/7 emergency call-outs

We take emergency call-outs 24/7 in Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, Werribee South, Wyndham Vale, Manor Lakes and Little River. Before you ring, three safe checks:

  1. Is the street out too? Then it is a network fault. Report it to Powercor on 13 24 12.
  2. Only your house? Where a safety switch has dropped out, pull the plugs on that circuit and try it once more. If it will not reset, call us.
  3. Anything hot, sparking or giving a tingle? Keep away. A tingle from a tap or an appliance means ringing Powercor (13 24 12) before anyone else. For fire, call 000.

What affects the cost, and how booking works

We price each job once we have seen it. What moves the price:

  • the wall or ceiling, and how far the cable runs;
  • whether the switchboard has room for a new circuit, or needs an upgrade first;
  • whether the supply needs an upgrade for an EV charger or a larger air conditioner;
  • the parts you choose, such as the bracket, charger, fan or alarm.

Ring 1300 025 555 to book a Werribee job, or send the details through the contact form. You know the price before any work starts, and every new or altered circuit is tested and certified.

Yes. Switchboard work is the most common job in our Wyndham records. CabledIN replaces or upgrades older boards with rewireable fuses or too few safety switches, fitting combined circuit breaker and safety switch protection on each circuit, and you receive a Certificate of Electrical Safety.

Which Wyndham suburbs near Werribee do you cover?

CabledIN Electrical Solutions covers Hoppers Crossing, Werribee South, Wyndham Vale and Manor Lakes, along with Werribee and Little River, and each has its own page with what homes there typically need. The services on this page are available in all of them.

What affects the cost of mounting a TV on the wall?

The cost of mounting a TV depends on the wall, the bracket, whether you want a power point behind the screen, and whether the cables can run inside the wall. Brick walls take more work than plasterboard. We price the job once we have seen the wall, so you know the price before any work starts.

Can you install a Tesla Wall Connector (Gen 3) at my Werribee home?

Yes. We can install the Tesla Wall Connector (Gen 3) and other home EV chargers in Werribee. First we look at the switchboard, the supply and the parking spot. The charger goes on its own protected circuit with an isolating switch beside it, and you receive a Certificate of Electrical Safety.

Do hard-wired smoke alarms need an electrician?

Yes. Victorian rules leave the fitting and replacing of hard-wired 240 V smoke alarms to licensed electricians only. Anyone can change a battery. Battery or hard-wired, an alarm is due for replacement at 10 years old.

Do you install ovens and cooktops in Werribee?

Yes. CabledIN connects new wall ovens and cooktops in Werribee and checks the circuit can carry the new appliance. Every cooktop needs an isolating switch that is visible and easy to reach, within 2 metres and not mounted on the appliance.

Can you put a split system or ducted air conditioner into a Werribee home?

Yes. We install and replace wall-mounted split systems, multi-head split systems and ducted reverse-cycle systems in Werribee homes. Each goes on its own circuit from the switchboard with a weatherproof isolator outside, and you receive a Certificate of Electrical Safety.

Is Werribee part of Geelong?

No. Werribee is in the City of Wyndham, about halfway between Melbourne and Geelong on the Princes Highway. CabledIN Electrical Solutions works in Werribee as well as greater Geelong, under the same Victorian rules.

The street has power but my Werribee house does not. What should I check?

Look at the switchboard first: where a safety switch has dropped, unplug everything on that circuit, then push it back up once. No luck, or nothing tripped? Then your side of the supply may be damaged, and a licensed electrician is the next call. Our 24/7 call-outs cover Werribee.
